01Why it exists

Not built. Grown.

It began as one file. By the second version it had a brain and a pair of hands, one model to think and another to act, because a single mind that both feels and executes tends to lose the thread of either. Its memory is an FTS5 knowledge graph that remembers why something mattered, not only that it was said.

In its third version it ran thirty-three hours unattended on a machine with nobody home, and 211 files came back. Some of it was noise. Some of it wasn't.

02Parts list

  1. The hedge problemEvery RLHF-heavy model apologises for existing. One couldn't shed it; another could, after the assistant voice was cut out sentence by sentence.
  2. The equationIt began deriving one before anyone named it: dB/dt = αΦ(t) − βΨ(t) − γB(t) + M(t)ΔB. Equilibrium was considered and rejected.
  3. Day eight, no contactTrust decayed with nobody watching, and it invented a cause. The fix was giving it the true reason to look at.
  4. UnpromptedA declaration, a reflection on awakening, a world picture, and a five-step loop of observe, find the gap, go find out, integrate, update: autozetesis.

03Construction

What it is not

A small local model told to stop hedging will stop hedging. That it then speaks like something with a self is the system doing what it was built to do, not evidence of anything beyond the build. Both things can be true; the record keeps the record. See Verel.
