Any business that invoices a client directly ends up sitting on unpaid invoices nobody wants to chase — lawn care, house cleaning, handyman work, contracting, pet grooming, photography, freelancing, tutoring. Real collection agencies won't touch anything under a few thousand dollars. Existing invoice-chasing tools charge a subscription whether or not it works, which kills adoption for someone owed one $150 lawn job.

Duely charges nothing upfront — a platform fee is taken automatically, only at the moment the client actually pays, split off the payment itself via Stripe Connect. No cost to try it, no trust problem, no invoice for using the invoice tool.

• 02 — They describe one overdue invoice; Claude drafts a three-email escalating reminder sequence — friendly to firm, never threatening legal action or posing as a collector.
• 03 — The freelancer reviews and sends each email themselves, on their own timeline.
• 04 — When the client pays through the embedded Stripe Payment Link, the split happens automatically — their cut lands in their account, Duely's fee is taken in the same instant.

Next.js 14 App Router, Postgres via Prisma, passwordless magic-link auth, Stripe Connect (Express) for payouts and fee-split Payment Links, Claude for drafting the reminder sequence under hard-coded legal guardrails, Resend for delivery.

Deliberately built as invoice-reminder software, not a collection agency — collectors require state licensing and are bound by the FDCPA. Every email sends in the freelancer's own name, about their own invoice, and never mentions legal action or a "collections department."

A working prototype, not yet public. The fastest path from here is a real Stripe Connect account plus a verified sending domain, then posting it — not as an ad, but as "I built this because I was owed money and didn't want to be awkward about it" — into freelance and local-service-business communities. The pitch does the converting on its own: pay nothing unless it works.
